Bracing a sagging roof is no easy feat even for those of us who are handy. The tent trailer had alot of damage done by the previous owner and i spent weeks re. Pulled the roof up until the washers touched the beam and roof at the same time. We used 2 x 4s to hold the roof in place while we detached the other lifting brackets.

If you have a roof that is sagging on the inside and it passes all visual inspections from the outside you should take a second look at the air conditioner. Push the bolt through the butyl tape or add silicone to the tpo before tightening the bolt washer to provide a watertight seal. Each rv roof top air conditioner has a gasket underneath between the ac unit and the roof and these can sometimes develop leaks even on fairly new rv s. I haven t seen a lot of videos on bracing up a sagging camper roof.

After everything was disconnected from the main body of the camper we took off the roof and put it on top of two sawhorses right next to the camper. Older campers are bad about the roofs sagging. If you are patient the right camper will come along. You may not have water damage issues now but if the roof doesn t close properly you will.

I drilled the holes in the 2x2 first then placed it in position on the roof and used it as a drill guide to drill the holes in the rv roof so all the holes would line up. You should probably walk away from this camper. Lift it into place and raise the uprights to meet the holes. I used the 2x2 also to drill the holes in the ceiling board for the same reason.

Sadly jacqueline i think the rv places you called are right. There will be times your pop up camper roof needs repair due to cracks from small accidents or extreme weather conditions. Install all 4 sides and test. 2017 bighorn 3270rs roof issues.
